Okay, Okay, I know that this wasn’t ever supposed to be a fitness blog. And it’s not. Promise! BUT, if you follow me over on Instagram, then you know that in the last 3 months, I did this thing.
I made a commitment to myself to complete 100 workouts in 100 days. Why? Well, because I decided that something had to change! And nothing was going to change if something didn’t change!
Hello 100 day commitment!
And guess what…. I fell in love with the program, with the community I joined, and with the results I started to see! I’m not talking just the physical results either. (Although I do love how my clothes are fitting better!) I’m also talking about the way I’ve started feeling. I have more energy, more patience with P&K and Thomas. I’m loving life more than I thought possible!
BUT finding the time to workout every day is HARD. Like super hard!
For me, working out in the morning is the only time that I have open. And let me tell you, I am NOT a morning person. I actually hated mornings. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still not a fan of mornings, but they are starting to grow on me! But if it doesn’t happen in the morning, it is far less likely to happen at all! Life just gets in the way, or I’m too tired, or a toddler wants to cuddle on the couch instead of going to sleep. So I choose to set my alarm at 4:50 am and get it done!

Fitting Your Workout in Amidst The Crazy
Fitting my workout in is the hardest part. I WANT to workout because I want to see the results. And I know when I workout I have more energy, more patience, and more zest! I am more motivated to stay on track with my nutrition when I workout.
I just don’t want to get up early or take time away from other things. Not to mention, my life can be so crazy sometimes! Between working full time, raising P&K, being wifey to Thomas and trying to also maintain somewhat of a social life, pushing play can easily creep down on the priority list if I allow it to.
So after 87 workouts in as many days, I have gathered my personal keys to success to help YOU get your workout in too, even when you’re super busy! Here we go!
Plan!
You gotta plan, girlfriend! If you don’t plan it, it simply isn’t going to happen. And even when you do plan it, there’s a pretty high possibility that something (or someone) is going to get in the way.
So you need Plan A, and then you need Plan B for when Plan A doesn’t work out. To be safe, go ahead and make Plan C just in case!
Bonus Pro Tip!
When planning your workouts, I strongly recommend using the time-blocking method. This is the exact method that I use to plan out each day. I use the time blocking method to plan EVERY aspect of my life, from life with P&K to work schedules, blogging to working out, date night with Thomas to girls night out!
Do you want to download the same time blocking sheets that I use daily?? Sign up below and I’ll email them to you right away!

Get it done in the morning! Just do it!
I know, I know, sleep is precious and the last thing you want to do is set your alarm any earlier. But trust me on this one! Getting your workout in first thing in the morning will set your day off on the right foot. You will feel more energized and burn more calories throughout the day. You will be far more likely to stick to your nutrition plan too!

I will often sleep in my workout clothes, too! When my alarm goes off at 4:50 am, finding my clothes and getting dressed is just one less step that I have to go through!
Find Your WHY!
Why did you make this commitment to yourself? Why do you workout?
Your WHY is going to be unique to you. Whatever it may be, you have to find this before you can fully commit!
Are you unhappy with how you look in pictures? Unhappy with your energy level? Did that baby weight stick around long after your baby turned into a toddler? Do you have a family history of heart disease or diabetes? Do you want to maintain health that you’ve already achieved? These are just some of the whys I hear from other mamas.
My WHY is my family. I want to set a healthy example for P&K. I want them to view working out as a normal, routine part of life. When they look at their Mama, I want them to see that I’m strong and determined. Driven and healthy. I want them to see me making my health and fitness a priority.
And, listen, you can’t pour from an empty cup. Taking 30 minutes for myself each morning fills my cup. It energizes me and helps me to have the patience necessary for this twin mom life I live!
But let’s be frank. I also didn’t like the way that I looked in pictures with P&K. As mamas, we aren’t in enough pictures as it is, but the pictures that I was in, I was over-editing and cropping. I was even deleting them because I didn’t like how I looked. No bueno, friends, no bueno!
So find your WHY, and every time you feel like your workout can wait until tomorrow, I want you to remember why you started!
Bonus Pro Tip!
Put that WHY on a vision board. Now put that vision board somewhere you will see it every day! My vision board is on the inside cover of my planner, in my office, and hanging on my bathroom mirror.
Set Micro Goals
Rome wasn’t built in a day. Similarly, you’re not going to reach your health and fitness goals overnight. It can be so easy to lose focus and motivation when results aren’t visible right away.
So, yes, setting that big goal is important. But perhaps even more important is setting micro goals along the way.
Do you want to workout consistently 5 days a week? Great! Let’s start with tomorrow, and then the next day.
Do you want to be able to tackle those badass burpees without any modification? Awesome! Let’s start with just one! And then two the next day!
Is your goal to defeat the negative self talk? Yes, girl! Let’s start with one positive affirmation today!
So set that micro goal and focus on that!
Bonus Pro Tip!
Write it down! Do you have a dry erase board on the fridge? What about mirror markers for your bathroom mirror? A dedicated goal space in your planner? Wherever it is, make sure you see it every day!
Motivate! InspirE! Repeat!
I would love to be able to tell you that if you just plan it out, focus on your WHY and set micro goals along the way, you will stay on track, your workouts will happen and results will come easy! Unfortunately, that’s probably not the case.
You have to keep yourself constantly motivated and inspired. You gotta get your head right. One of the best and most effective ways to do this is to focus on personal development.
This could be a motivational book, daily journaling, or daily devotions. I highly recommend Girl, Wash Your Face and Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis! Currently, I’m reading Present over Perfect and loving it too!
Bonus Pro Tip!
Do you feel like you just don’t have time to sit down and read an entire book? No problem! Audible is an amazing thing! I listen to most of my books in the car on my way to and from work! You can also listen to podcasts for FREE via the Podcasts app on an Iphone!
Find a Community!
Just as important as what you are fueling your mind with, is who you choose to surround yourself with. Jim Rohn once said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
Take a minute to think about that! Who are the 5 people you spend the most time with? Write their names down!
Now consider: Are these people adding value to your life? Do they motivate and encourage you? Or are they negative and always grumbling? Do they bring you down or force you to level up?
If you went to these five people and complained that you just didn’t want to workout today, what would their response be? Would they encourage you to fight through it and get it done? Or would they encourage you to sit on the couch and eat that bowl of ice cream if that’s what you want to do? (Okay, so let’s be clear, you CAN still eat that ice cream! I love my sweets! But BALANCE, sister, balance!) I think you get my point!
Girl, you NEED to surround yourself with motivational, encouraging, positive people! And as hard as this is to hear, if your five aren’t doing this for you, you need to find a tribe that will! Get this right and you’re setting yourself up to slay your goals!
Bonus Pro Tip!
If you already have a supportive community, AWESOME! But if you don’t, I would love for you to join mine! My tribe of ladies is one of the biggest reasons I have been able to stay consistent and motivated! I know my tribe is going to check in on me if I don’t show up. Their inspiration forces me to level up! If you want more info on joining my tribe, fill out the form here!
Now let’s go slay some goals!
I hope my keys to success help you to feel more confident and motivated to slay your goals and get your workout in each day! Taking the time to fill your cup and be the best version of yourself is one of the greatest gifts that you can give to your kids, to your husband and to yourself! When you are healthy, when you are strong, you are able to show up and be more present in your life!
